Some love stories begin the way the best ones do, without any awareness of what they're becoming. For Keycee and Kaylen, that beginning was kindergarten. Two children, two families, one moment that neither of them knew would become a lifetime.

By the time I arrived at their wedding in Olympia, Washington, it was clear that this was not just a celebration of two people. It was a celebration of everything that had held them together :family, heritage, and a love that had been growing, in one form or another, for most of their lives.

As a Seattle wedding photographer and Tacoma wedding photographer who works throughout the Pacific Northwest, I have photographed weddings of every style and season. But there is something particularly special about a celebration that brings the warmth of the tropics into our corner of the PNW.

Kindergarten Sweethearts

I want to pause on this for a moment, because it deserves its own space.

They met in kindergarten.

Somewhere along the way, through all the years and all the growing up, they chose each other again. Intentionally. On purpose.

That kind of love shows up in photographs differently than other kinds of love. It's settled. It's sure. It doesn't perform for the camera because it doesn't need to. It just exists, fully and completely, and all I have to do is point my lens at it and not blink.

Tropical Elegance in the Pacific Northwest

Olympia, Washington might not be the first place that comes to mind when you think of tropical celebration but on this day, it was exactly that. The florals, the colors, the textures, the spirit of the day all carried that warm, lush, island-inspired energy that made every frame feel like summer and love all at once.

A Wedding Rooted in Family

From the moment guests arrived, the energy was unmistakable. This was a family wedding in the truest sense . The warmth in the room was palpable, the kind that only happens when a community genuinely loves the people at the center of it.

Watching family members place leis around the necks of the couple and their loved ones was one of those moments that a camera almost can't do justice to. Almost.
